Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Diya was our servicer for the night! She was a top nudge waitress. It feels like you are in a luxury serivce atmosphere. Amazing food and wonderful staffs!"
"Too good, the panner kadhai was so so so rich in taste without too much spice, oil or food colour - just a perfect normal sabji which tastes so yummy. After eating it we still felt light and good stomach. Definitely must try. We also had samosa and they were good too, a bit oily but well not their fault as it’s always deep fried. Also I would recommend to order bullet naan, it is so healthy I mean it doesn’t stretch too much and the layer is also thin not like other thick stretchy naans."
"India Paradise offers a wide variety of Indian dishes, and the food I tried was good. There are plenty of menu options to choose from, which is great if you enjoy exploring different flavours. The atmosphere reflects Indian culture nicely, with thoughtful décor and a well-arranged dining space that adds to the experience. It definitely feels like a popular spot, even my Uber driver mentioned the restaurant on my way from the airport and spoke highly of it, which says something about its reputation. That said, I personally felt it might be slightly overrated, though I could be wrong since I’ve only visited once. I had requested a corner table, and it seemed the server wasn’t very enthusiastic about accommodating that request, which may have influenced my overall impression. Still, a solid place for Indian food in downtown Halifax."
"Great experience! The food is very tasty, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. There was a 15-minute wait, but that's expected on weekends for such a great treat. We ordered Hyderabadi Tandoori Chicken and Ghee roast chicken Biryani Service review: Everyone pays attention to the customers, but Sumeet greets and interacts with each customer with her excellent smile."
"Had an amazing experience here, fantastic service and the spice level was perfect on every item. Not somewhere to bring your spice-intolerant frufriends without some warning first. Diya was our server, and was friendly and attentive with us, making sure to let us know it takes time to make our chai at the end (just a few minutes, it's made fresh)"
"I was absolutely blown away by the flavours and quality at this restaurant. The fish pakoras are sublime. Large selection of dishes in veg and meat varieties. Naan bread was fantastic and they give you multiple pieces. I ordered the chicken biryani as my main dish and it far exceeded my expectations. I'd even say it was the best I've ever had. Reasonable price and more than enough food, I had trouble finishing it .. but I did because it was so good. The only problem is there isn't a location back home in St. John's Newfoundland so I can sample more of the menu! Definitely recommend."
"India Paradise was an absolute hit. We initially felt the 4.7 rating might be a bit generous—but it turned out to be completely justified. While visiting Halifax this January, we decided to try India Paradise as it was just a few blocks away from our hotel. Going by the reviews, we gave it a shot, and I’m so glad we did. On our first visit, we ordered triple Schezwan noodles, chicken tikka, and jeera rice. The noodles were hands down the best we’ve had in Canada—absolutely outstanding and a must-try. I’d recommend mentioning your spice tolerance while ordering; we went with medium spice, which was perfect for us as spice lovers. Thinking it might just be a lucky coincidence, we decided to visit again—and the second visit only reinforced our experience. I ordered the Mysore masala dosa, while my family had paneer chilli, chicken fried rice, and chicken dum ka murg. The paneer chilli was an absolute standout—authentic, flavourful, and instantly reminded us of good food back in Mumbai. Easily the best paneer chilli we’ve had in Canada. The dosa was huge and tasted great. The chicken fried rice had the perfect balance of vegetables, and the chicken gravy was rich and delicious. Overall, we would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Indian meal. The kitchen is visible and appeared well maintained, which was reassuring. A couple of minor suggestions: the crockery and cutlery could be updated more regularly, and the floors could be kept a bit cleaner. On our first visit, I did notice mosquitoes and ended up with a few bites—something I later saw mentioned in another review as well. But I wouldn't take away any stars for that as the food alone makes this place well worth a visit."
"Since we don't live here but came on vacation and found an incredible place with Indian cuisine, and since I'm a food connoisseur, I can confidently say I'll definitely be back. It's incredibly delicious and the service is top-notch. But the waitress, Summet, really stole my heart. She's knowledgeable and very attentive, happy to help with our choice, and we didn't regret it. We had briyani, samosa, and I don't remember the exact name, but it's a tofu-based dish served with naan bread. We'll definitely be back next time."
